Director of Retention and Student Success in Edwardsville, IL

The University community invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Retention and Student Success at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). This position is newly created as a result of the recommendations of the Student Success Advisory Council, charged by the Chancellor to develop an integrative and comprehensive retention model informed by best practices but unique to SIUE.
SIUE is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of 46 up-and-coming universities nationally and by Washington Monthly as among the top 50 out of 553 private and public master's universities nationally. SIUE has enjoyed 4 years of record enrollment and is currently completing a $300M infrastructure and building program.
SIUE is one of two established universities within the Southern Illinois University system. SIUE is located in Edwardsville, Illinois, approximately twenty minutes from downtown St. Louis. SIUE is a Carnegie-designated Master's Colleges and Universities (larger programs) primarily residential institution that promotes excellent undergraduate education as its first priority, complemented by excellent graduate and professional academic programs, and is accredited through the Academic Quality Improvement Program of the North Central Accrediting Association. A metropolitan university, SIUE serves a diverse student body of over 14,000 and employs 2,500 full-time faculty and administrative staff. The University awards degrees in 44 baccalaureate and 70 graduate programs encompassing the arts and sciences, nursing, education, business and engineering. Advanced professional degree programs include the Doctor of Dental Medicine, Doctor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Nursing Practice, and Doctor of Education. The Director of Retention and Student Success will help ensure students succeed in achieving their personal, educational and professional goals. She/he will provide leadership and direction in the establishment of a retention and student success model customized to SIUE by developing, coordinating and implementing activities, programs, services and events that contribute to student success. The Director will serve as the Chair of the Student Success Advisory Council and focus on implementing strategies related to increasing high-quality degree production and completion rates at all levels and closing achievement gaps.
